Gender Equality Is a Human Right
WE ALL RISE is a global human rights coalition committed to advancing equality for all women and girls - across every identity and regardless of gender. We believe gender equality is not only a universal human right, but a vital prerequisite for peace, prosperity, and a sustainable future.
In close partnership with our Global Partner, United Nations Human Rights - the leading UN agency championing dignity and justice - WE ALL RISE works to elevate the economic and social conditions of women and adolescent girls around the world.
That’s why we focus on the most urgent and interconnected challenges of our time:
- Disproportionate impact of climate change on women and girls
- Gender-based violence
- Barriers to quality education
- Economic inequality and the wage gap
- Threats to reproductive health and rights
- Political underrepresentation
- Human trafficking and exploitation
- Online harassment and digital inequity
Global Launch
WE ALL RISE launched globally on March 8, 2021 – International Women’s Day via a special celebrity-driven social media campaign that had a social reach that topped 200 million people. Leaders in Music, TV, Film, Fashion, Comedy, Sports and the Culinary Arts supported gender equality around the world by promoting WE ALL RISE to their followers and fans. Campaign participants included Cher, Céline Dion, Naomi Campbell, Billie Jean King, Eva Longoria and many others.
