2021 International Women's Day
On International Women’s Day, March 8, 2021, WE ALL RISE was proud to support our Global Partner United Nations Human Rights and their #IStandWithHer campaign that looks to the women leaders who have made extraordinary steps to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
√ We honor and support the courageous work of women human rights defenders and feminist movements around the world, and we pledge to amplify their voices and stand behind their calls to action.
√ We’ve come a long way, but there are still mountains to climb to reach a world where women and girls, in all their diversity, have equal rights.
√ By standing with all women and girls, and the people who defend their human rights, by challenging discriminatory social norms and promoting equal rights of all, we can create more equitable, inclusive and just societies.
√ Stand With Her, and join the global movement towards gender equality.
“Patriarchy works to exclude us. We must push back, in solidarity and sisterhood with other women, and with all those affected by discrimination and oppression.”
Michelle Bachelet
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights
On International Women’s Day, United Nations Human Rights’ #IStandWithHer campaign promoted women leaders who have made extraordinary steps to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Women, especially those belonging to marginalized and discriminated groups, have been amongst the hardest hit by the pandemic and yet, they have been largely excluded from COVID-19 recovery efforts.
Whether fighting for better conditions for domestic workers, supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence, protecting our climate, or continuing the ongoing battle against systemic racial discrimination, women leaders around the world are keeping up the call for a better post COVID-19 world, where gender equality is at the heart. After the pandemic, we have an opportunity to transform our world towards more equitable, inclusive, just, greener and sustainable post-pandemic societies.
Women and girls, collectively and individually, represent an incredible force for change at all levels. Women and girls’ leadership is today more crucial than ever – it is high time to turn the page.
