The initiative, We All Rise, has been supported by Cher, Becky G, Celine Dion, Cyndi Lauper and more.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, United Nations Human Rights and David Clark Cause are launching an international initiative in support of gender equality. The initiative, titled We All Rise, has received support from Cher, Becky G, Celine Dion, Cyndi Lauper, Billie Jean King, Gail King, Padma Lakshmi, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Amanda Shires, Angela Bassett, Sue Bird, Terry Crews, and more.

Speaking of We All Rise, Veronica Birga, chief of the Women’s Rights and Gender Section of United Nations Human Rights, said: “Gender equality is one of the fundamental values of the United Nations and lies at the very heart of human rights. That is why we are the global partner of We All Rise, an exciting new initiative committed to promoting, protecting, and advancing the human rights of all women and girls around the world. Because gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, it is essential to achieving a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world.”

While We All Rise will be creating and supporting new gender equality programs throughout 2021, including an International Women’s Day Honors Concert in 2022, they are kicking off with its own theme song.

“Together We Are Stronger” is an anthem encapsulating the initiative’s goals and ideas. Performed by KT Tunstall, Lolo, Devyn De Loera, and Nikki Vianna, the song was created with the Highland Park Collective and songwriters Morgan Dorr, Greg Hansen, and De Loera.

It hosts an encouraging message: “I know we can keep climbing / We keep on rising / We can have it all.”

“Music is an incredible connective tissue in the world, and the challenges old and new that have faced women across the Globe will always be easier to overcome if we ALL tackle them together,” Tunstall tweeted of the song. “I love to see women supporting each other, as well as the men and boys that fight in our corner too!”
